‘Can’t Win Without Shedding Blood’: BJP Attacks TMC After Girl Killed In Blast During Kaliganj Victory Rally

A 13-year-old girl was killed in an explosion on Monday in Kaliganj during Trinamool Congress’s bypoll victory rally. Following the incident, the Bharatiya Janata Party launched a scathing attack at the Mamata Banerjee-led ruling TMC, saying that the party cannot even win a bypoll without shedding blood. BJP also staged protests in Kolkata over the girl’s death.

The girl, a class-4 student, was reportedly caught in an explosion as a bomb was hurled at a CPI (M) suporter’s house during the bypoll victory celebration procession, even before the counting had ended. She later succumbed to her injuries.

Reacting to the death of the minor girl, BJP’s Amit Malviya slammed TMC for the “child’s murder,” while the party was busy celebrating its victory.

“TMC is not a political party. It is a gang of vultures. They cannot win—even a bypoll—without shedding blood,” he wrote in a post on X, questioning CM Banerjee if such incidents were the “price of victory” under her rule.

‘TMC Is A Criminal Syndicate In Power’
BJP state president Sukanta Majumdar also took to X to condemn the incident and came down heavily on the TMC for the “brutal and inhuman” incident, which took place during the party’s celebration.

Calling the election win celebration a “terrorist attack,” Majumdar said that there were no speeches or sweet distribution during the celebration procession, but instead real bombs were hurled, which resulted in the death of the minor girl, even before the counting ended in Kaliganj.

“AITC is not a political party anymore ! it’s a criminal syndicate in power. Mamata is not a Chief Minister, she’s the patron saint of blood and fear. Shame!”

“Only in @MamataOfficial’s Bengal can an election celebration look like a terrorist attack! How brutal, how sick, how inhuman do you have to be to throw bombs while kids are on the street?” he asked.

‘Mamata Brought Bomb Industry In Bengal’
BJP leader Agnimitra Paul also targeted TMC over the girl’s death, quipping that “such incident are bound to happen if people vote for party of goons, rapists, and anti-socials”.

“This (TMC) is a party of the anti-socials. They won the Kaliganj Bypolls by cheating and threatening. They were celebrating their victory with real bombs. Not the crackers we use in Durga Puja, real bombs. Mamata Banerjee has brought the bomb industry here… A small girl studying in class 4 lost her life… And Mamata Banerjee is the leader of this government,” she said.

Paul further warned that if Article 355 and 356 are not imposed in Bengal, there would be “many more dead bodies”.

“If, as per the demand of the people of Bengal, articles 355 and 356 are not imposed in West Bengal, then the Election Commission should also see how many dead bodies would be there… 355 and 356 is not our demand. A little girl lost her life because these people (TMC) were celebrating.

These things will multiply by 100 times in 2026 because Mamata Banerjee knows that the people of West Bengal have decided that the TMC will not come to power again. They know this is their last chance. If articles 355 and 356 are not imposed, then the Election Commission would also see the kind of bloodshed there would be,” she added.

‘Will See If Incident Was To Malign TMC Celebrations’, Says Kunal Ghosh
Meanwhile, TMC leader Kunal Ghosh assured that those behind the act will be punished and reiterated that Mamata Banerjee has already condemned the incident. He also said that the party would investigate if the incident was to “malign TMC’s celebrations”.

“The TMC has won in the Kaliganj bye-elections… The people gave a befitting reply to the communal politics (of the BJP). But after that, an unfortunate incident took place, and a girl lost her life. Mamata Banerjee has condemned it. We will not spare anyone, and everyone behind this will be punished. We will also see whether this incident was to malign the TMC celebrations… Whoever did this has to face the consequences,” he said.
