Diljit Dosanjh Shares Cryptic Message Amid Sardaar Ji 3, Hania Aamir Controversy

Singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has stirred fresh buzz on social media after posting a cryptic message that seemingly refers to the censorship issues faced by his long-delayed film Panjab 95. The post comes amid growing backlash over his casting of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in his upcoming Punjabi horror-comedy Sardaar Ji 3.

On Monday, Diljit re-shared a story titled “Censored before release?” which referred to Panjab 95, a biographical film on slain human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra. The post highlighted how the film was allegedly stalled by the CBFC due to 127 requested cuts, which the makers, including director Honey Trehan and Diljit himself, refused to implement.

Backlash Over Hania Aamir’s Casting in Sardaar Ji 3
Diljit’s post has drawn attention not only for reviving the Panjab 95 debate but also because it coincided with social media outrage over his collaboration with Hania Aamir. The criticism emerged following heightened India-Pakistan tensions in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack and Operation Sindoor.

Despite the uproar, Diljit appears to be moving forward with the international release of Sardaar Ji 3, which premieres overseas on June 27. The actor recently dropped the film’s trailer, giving fans a first glimpse of Hania’s character joining his ghost-hunting escapade in the UK. The film also features Neeru Bajwa, Manav Vij, Gulshan Grover, Sapna Pabbi, and others.

In the trailer post, Diljit wrote, “Sardaar Ji 3 Releasing 27th June OVERSEAS Only. FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN.” The choice to skip an Indian theatrical release is also fueling curiosity.

Panjab 95 Still Awaits Release
Panjab 95, based on the real-life investigations of Jaswant Singh Khalra, remains unreleased in India despite being completed. The film was once selected for a world premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), but was later pulled from the line-up without explanation.

The biopic portrays Khalra’s relentless work in exposing the illegal cremation of thousands of unidentified bodies in Punjab between 1984 and 1994. He was abducted and murdered in 1995, and several police officials were later sentenced to life imprisonment for their roles.

Sardaar Ji Franchise Continues Overseas
Directed by Amar Hundal, Sardaar Ji 3 is the third installment in the hit franchise that began in 2015. While Rohit Jugraj directed the earlier two films, the latest chapter takes Diljit’s ghost hunter to foreign shores for a new comedic horror twist. Alongside Hania, Neeru Bajwa returns as a romantic lead in the film.

Whether Diljit’s cryptic post was a subtle jab at rising criticism or a genuine reminder of the censorship woes surrounding Panjab 95, one thing is clear—the actor isn’t backing down. With Sardaar Ji 3 set to make its mark internationally, fans await further updates on both his artistic freedom and his long-shelved biopic.
