BJP’s Kirit Somaiya Alleges Bangladeshi Birth Certificate Racket In Maharashtra Not Limited To Malegaon

BJP leader Kirit Somaiya has alleged that a fake birth certificate racket in Maharashtra extends up to Amravati in the Vidarbha region. BJP leaders have been continuously presenting “evidence” of a Bangladeshi Rohingya birth certificate racket being operated in Maharashtra. Presenting his latest set of “evidence”, Kirit Somaiya on Saturday alleged that the racket was not limited to Malegaon. It was also effected in Anjangaon Surji [Amravati] as well.
According to Somaiya, the population of Anjangaon Surji taluka is 1,60,903 (according to the 2011 census). “Out of this, the Muslim population is 28,180. In the last 6 months, more than 1,450 applications were received for birth certificates, which include those of 1,400 Bangladeshi Rohingyas,” he said.
Earlier, he said the tehsildar of Anjangao Surji told him that 1,100 birth certificates had been issued to Bangladeshi Rohingyas in the last six months. “Fake and forged documents were submitted by these Bangladeshi Rohingyas,” he said.
Somaiya said he will go to Anjangaon Surji Amravati on Monday, January 13, and share information with the police.
The Maharashtra government on January 8 appointed a special investigation team to probe the allegations.
Somaiya further said that those who obtain birth certificates with fake documents may also be terrorists. “I shall talk to the government to get the anti-terrorist squad and the National Investigation Agency to investigate this matter,” he said.
