Maharashtra Elections: Uddhav Sena Fields Mumbai Ex-Mayor Against BJP Heavyweight In 2nd Candidates’ List
The second list of candidates of the Uddhav Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena (UBT) has been released with 15 names. Former Mayor of Mumbai Shraddha Jadhav has been fielded from the Wadala Assembly constituency against eight-time MLA Kalidas Kolambkar of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Kolambkar was earlier in the Shiv Sena and the Congress. He joined the BJP in 2019.
From Dhule city, the Shiv Sena (UBT) has fielded former BJP MLA Anil Gote, who recently switched from the Lok Sangram Party. This could create problems in the Maha Vikas Aghadi as Sharad Pawar’s NCP is reportedly unhappy with the induction of Anil Gote into the alliance.
Another fight to watch out for would be the Kalyan East assembly seat contest. Former Deputy Mayor at Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation Dhananjay Bodare has been fielded against BJP’s Sulabha Gaikwad, the wife of jailed MLA Ganpat Gaikwad.

With this list, the Shiv Sena (UBT) has released the names of 80 candidates in total. Earlier the party had named 65 candidates in the first list.
The seat-sharing discussions are still going on within the Maha Vikas Aghadi, of which Uddhav Thackeray is a part. While the seat-sharing is almost final, talks are still on the strategy in certain regions, such as Vidarbha in eastern Maharashtra. The final seat-sharing formula is likely to be announced by the alliance on Saturday evening.

Maharashtra Assembly Elections?
Voting for 288 assembly seats in Maharashtra will be held in a single phase on November 20 and then the results will be declared after counting on November 23. Currently, the Mahayuti alliance (i.e. BJP, Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP) is in power. The Mahavikas Aghadi (Congress, Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray, and NCP Sharadchandra Pawar) is also trying to regain control of power.
The fight has been made interesting with the entry of Manoj Jarange Patil, the face of the Maratha quota protests. He has decided to back Maratha community candidates against the Mahayuti and MVA.
