Election Commission Revises Rajasthan Assembly Polls Date To November 25
“The Commission, having considered these factors and representations, has decided to change the date of poll from 23rd November, 2023 (Thursday) to 25th November, 2023 (Saturday),” the ECI said in a statement.
The counting of votes will take place as scheduled on December 3. The poll body announced the assembly elections schedule for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram on Monday.
Meanwhile, mediapersons and employees of eight departments, including electricity, transport and health, will be able to vote through postal ballots in Rajasthan Assembly elections, ECI said. The poll panel issued a notification. This is the first time that journalists in the state can avail this facility, PTI reported.
According to Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta, doctors, paramedical staff, ambulance workers, electricians, linemen and pump operators in the Public Health Department, people working in milk committees in the state, employees, drivers and conductors in the transport corporation, firefighters and journalists authorised by the Election Commission will be given the postal ballot voting facility from this year.
This facility was available only to the employees and officers posted on election duty, army or paramilitary personnel till now, Gupta said, as reported by PTI. He added that from this year, people with all essential services can avail this facility.
